To encourage returning to the office, a healthcare financial services company set out to refresh their Boston, Massachusetts, and Morristown, New Jersey, corporate locations with updated furniture. The client wanted a predominantly open floor plan with unassigned seating, options that catered to multiple styles of work, and a consistent aesthetic no matter where an employee chose to work for the day. Strategic Spaces, a Kimball Select dealer, and Fusion Design Consultants were selected to bring the vision to life.
With a future goal to refresh additional locations across the country, the client wanted to partner with a large furniture manufacturer they could trust to provide quality products to fit the design vision. The project began with the client’s 60,000 square foot Morristown location. Julie Tulloch, Principal at Strategic Spaces, and Jennifer Peters, Principal at Fusion Design Consultants, worked together to create a simple, cohesive, and future-proof solution using a combination of Kimball’s EverySpace and Narrate products.
The team chose to present three different work style configurations that used the same kit of parts and cohesive finishes. They presented a benching typical, a traditional workstation typical, and a private office typical, each using a combination of EverySpace and Narrate.
“We took the core pieces of EverySpace out of the traditional workstation typical – the desk, storage, and credenza – and repurposed those same products for the interior private offices. Using the same kit of parts helped to provide a flexible, future-proof solution in the event of floorplan or work style changes.”

Along with EverySpace and Narrate, the full furniture package included ancillary seating, pergola style meeting areas, and custom planter boxes and lockers. The client loved the simplicity of the three work style configurations as well as the consistency and cohesiveness of the overall design package and chose to use a similar concept for their 10,000 square foot Boston location.
Kimball International was able to furnish the Club space in a way that keeps unique colors and branding as a focal point of the design. The new Club room is an area where guests can comfortably sit, gather, and enjoy food and drinks. This bold space emphasizes Lexington Sporting Club’s determination to provide a premium VIP environment that also serves as a community space for the city.
“The client gave overwhelmingly positive feedback for both locations,” said Julie. “When employees returned to the office, they were thrilled to walk into the refreshed space and loved the new furniture. As specifiers, we loved the flexibility and continuity of EverySpace. Being able to transfer the core of the workstation into the private offices was a key selling point for the EverySpace product.”
In the near future, Strategic Spaces and Fusion Design Consultants hope to use a similar design concept for several of the client’s additional locations around the country. EverySpace and Narrate’s wide statement of line and cohesive design package make that possible.
