Avelar rebranded and moved locations from Oakland, California, to Walnut Creek, California. Looking to redesign their new home, “the glass house”—a nickname given to their office for having the largest amount of glass in the East Bay, this group of architectural, construction, and building code experts wanted to embrace natural light with warm and airy finishes and complementary colors.


Since 1976, Avelar has specialized in forensic analysis, as well as the redesign and repair of commercial, industrial, single, and multi-family residential buildings. They also use state-of-the-art, computer-aided design to generate visual presentation materials and reconstruction documents. Avelar offered great input with each decision from their understanding of interiors, construction, and task workers in their firm. Visualizing technologies helped to transform their space from start to finish in a way that enabled a specific vision to be beautifully brought to life. They carried the glass theme throughout the space most of their interior walls as well.

Avelar utilized Be Workplace Design (Kimball International Dealer partner) and Studio Benavente Architects to secure premium products to furnish conference rooms, private offices, open workstations, HUB spaces, and lounge areas.


An impressive Dock conference table and Joya chairs with leather upholstery were chosen for the stunning conference room to create a spacious and sophisticated space to meet as a team or host clients. The sleek and sophisticated Priority collection was selected for private offices while multiple other components that support efficiency and practicality included worksurfaces, wall storage, open storage, and a pedestal that doubles as storage or extra seating if needed. In the open plan space, Xsede Height Adjust workstations were paired with Footprint storage and Joya task chairs to provide employee flexibility and comfort in their daily tasks. Small phone booth spaces were also created using Pairings lounge seating and tables to provide a private retreat for employees when needed.
